ABOUT SHANNON WALSH

BIOGRAPHY

Shannon Walsh is an Irish born photographer currently studying BA Photography with Video at Ulster University.

Walsh is rarely seen without her beloved polaroid and 35mm cameras which she uses to create fine art and documentary photos.

Literature, art and music are integral to her way of working.

Head in the clouds and camera in hand, Walsh focuses the lens on her life. In her current project ‘Woolgathering’ she documents and processes her daydreams, thoughts, emotions, the relationships with those around her and nature as a way of escape and reflection. The melancholic wistfulness of the work is a deeper reflection of self.

Walsh also has a deep interest in both documentary and music photography. These are her roots, as an amateur photographer she walked around Belfast City Centre capturing poetic and vibrant images of her surroundings which made her appreciate her home more.

Looking for more purpose as a photographer she soon ended up finding herself at home when photographing the gigs she attended.
